Anyone else hate the take off on the E420 and E430 Gets me so mad that this car should be a 13 second car but mercedes made 1st and 2nd gear so freaking slow The way the gears are set up are so freaking messed up it gets me so mad!....Just thought I would express myself here LOL....Anyone else notice this?

I have been looking EVERYWHERE for a stall convertor and JUST found a company who said they will make me one for 800$...Which is not to bad considering i will be running low 13's if i buy it

But aren't all Benz's (except AMG's) intentionally set up that way for comfort, so that the occupants don't stick to their seats (permanently) and get whip lashed when you take off? My past experience with A's, C's, E240-430's, S500's and even SL 500's (geeze, didn't realise I've handled almost all the saloon classes!) have been the same.

But if you or anyone has a solution, I would be very interested as I only have a 2.4l and that would surely make a difference. Good luck!

Oh yeah, I notice it . I do well on the highway and at high speeds but not so well from a dead stop. I am so tight on funds right now (saving money to take the plunge ) that I can't spare $800 bucks for a stall converter.

Benz, if you end up having it made, please let me know how you like it. You never know, I could somehow end up sneaking the money away from the plunge fund...

I have the same complaint with my CLK430. It is dog slow off the line but my wife loves it. Get the revs up and the car moves like a $60K cabrio should. She hated to drive my E55 until she found the W/S switch.

However, I have to agree with Whitey. Non-AMG cars are supposed to be soft off the line. The only MB I've had that was both non-AMG and a rocket off the line was an 85 560SEC. It would snap your neck but only if you statrted with the gear selector in B (first).

Oh yeah, regarding torque converter mods...be careful. Most new MB slush boxes are computer controled to limit or control torque output. Altering the TC could fool the brain into reducing power. If it were as easy as a TC swap, why doesn't anyone offer one? If we were talking about an American car, you could find a dozen different stall ratings for every model.

Thanks for the information....EVOsport makes one for our cars...I'm going to have to read more about it to make sure if i get one made it's made the same....That information helped out alot.

I guess everyone was right....All but the AMG's were made for smoooooth rides hehe....I just wish it took off just a littttle faster hehe. I just wanted to make sure I was not the only one who noticed this....I do give the car credit for taking off FAST at high speeds but it tops out at 135mph

I dont think i will be doing the TC anytime soon cause the paint job gets done next week.

If Evosport has one, they might also modify the brains to work with it. Personally, I've never seen one offered alone. Most MB tuners rebuild the entire trans. but then maybe this is just to handle the extra power.

I wonder if it is possible to change the computer program to get a harder launch? After all, if the computer can limit torque, why can't it be reprogrammed not to do this?
