E270Cdi W210 CPS location
I'm new to this molarchy so excuse me if I should have been able to find it on a previous post, but i have searched and whilst there are leads as to where the CPS can be found on various E-classes I'm not convinced they are in the same place as on my E270Cdi.
Someone please tell me where to find it and let me know if it most easily found and changed by working from above the car or from underneath it.
I look forward to making the most of other people's knowledge.
Thanks,
John.

Thanks Pelican Parts. That is really brilliant and helpful. Will also make a nice drawing for my 5 year old to colour in his first engine once I've finished with it! I don't suppose I can be really cheeky and ask if you know what size torx bolt it is to remove the CPS as I don't have any so would prefer to make sure that I buy the right size rather than discover I've bought the wrong sizes when I try fitting them!

Still can't find CPS on E270Cdi
This is starting to really bug me now. I've searched from the top, from the bottom and just can't find the CPS.
The diagram that was kindly attached looks different in parts to my engine. It is a Yr2000 W210-0161B E270cdi.
Pelican or anyone else would taking a look at the photo of my engine bay and letting me know where about on it I should be looking.
Thanks in advance.
John.

Excellent! Thanks very much Roy - now found it. Shame is though that the problem still exists! I'm not too fussed about having changed the CPS as chances are it would probably need replacing sometime soon anyhow. I now suspect a fuel delivery problem as the engine turns, but without a hint of ignition.
I did have the fuel pump replaced 6 months ago, due to it leaking. Is there any simple way of removing a pipe to see if diesel is being pumped?

Success! After a bit more cranking, it suddenly fired up and so far has been starting without problem. I suspect that it was the CPS that was at fault after all and for some reason after having being left unused for 2-3 months the fuel just needed and extra bit of nudging around the circuit after the CPS was replaced.
Something I did find rather strange in the process was that on checking what was meant to be the fuse for the diesel pump (no 6 under the rear seat) - there was no fuse in there at all! It is running fine like that now. As to why a fuse isn't there as Merc's own documentation in car suggests it should be I really don't know, but don't suspect it has anything to do with the problems I encountered.
Pleased all is sorted now and thanks to those who helped me get there!
Looking to replace the old W210 with a post 2006 W211 soon. Do people know if it is actual fact or just Merc hyp that the post 2006 updates led to a much more reliable car than the troublesome early W211's?
