snap on solus?
will the snap on solus read abs codes on my 97 e320? i have the abs/asr light on my car. tried everything i can searching through here....brake switch, fuses, battery voltage...etc. lights are always on. i recently discovered that one of our mechanics has the snap on solus scanner.
searching around the net some, i havent been able to come up with the proper 38 pin connector for the scanner. not sure it exists.
thanks in advance.

Snap-On covers ABS for 98+ E class. So no it would not work, Snap-On and OTC scanners have fairly limited ability to properly diagnose our cars. Look for an Indy with Star Diagnostics scanner.
FIY if you want the Solus to work on your car(for ENGINE, TRANS, AIRBAG, CLIMATE CONTROL, INSTRUMENT) first you need to make sure that your mechanic has European software installed and also has Keys for Euro cars(ex S64), then you'll need the MB-1 adapter(EAA0355L62A), which you can buy directly from Snap-On for about $50.
Good luck.

My connector for OBD2 scanners has less than 38 pins and it is behind a door beneath the steering wheel. Are you sure the SnapOn Solus scanner requires the 38 pin connector? I know that is where the Star is hooked up but there is also an adapter for the Star to use the OBD2 plug.

I am not familiar with Solus, but on our Modis(which runs the same software as Solus) when you try to connect to a W210 asks for the MB-1(38 pin) adapter.
If you have access to the scanner you can simply select your vehicle and module you want to access, and it'll tell you which adapter to use.
Now technically some of the wires in OBD II connectors are the same as in the 38pin one. So if you can map out both Snap-On MB-1 and DL-16A and verify that with the Key required both adapters would connect you to the same wires, it could work. But if you end up connecting to the wrong wires you could potentially damage the scanner and/or vehicle.

things with and without wheels
You will have a better chance to get info or communication using the mb-1 connector that you can get on e-bay.
I use my snapon scanner (the brick) on my wife's 01 and my 02 w210 using the mb-1 connector, the obd2 connector is good for engine but when it comes to trans or body it is very slow and sometimes no communication.
