1997 E320 M104 ENGINE REPLACEMENT

i have replaced my 1997 m104 engine wiith a 1996 e320 m104 engine.
All parts from the original 1997 engine were transferred over to the 1996 motor. manifolds and sensors, etc.
The motor starts and idles. No throttle response.
I have tried throttle reset procedure. no luck. also replaced new MAF sensor. Has anyone experienced this. any ideas. been into 2 repair shops.. no luck yet..
Is the 1996 m104 motor compatable/same as the 1997 m104?.

Find someone(an indy) with a current version of the MB Star Diagnostic System. Then have them run a quick test.

Additionally, did you change any engine or transmission control modules!!

I only used the 1996 longblock. I transferred all sensors, manifolds, fuel rail and injectors from the original engine. I did not use the engine or transmission control modules from the donor car. That would not be necessary since I only used the donor longblock - I have a star scanner and It does not show any dtc when running quick test.

I know it was awhile ago but how did that swap go?
I just spun a bearing on my 97 E320 M104 and am debating swapping the engine. I found a good used one for $400 with 110000 on it. I suppose I could just keep driving it till it self destructs but the clunking turns heads on the street.
I've owned the car for 20 years and have done most all of the maintenance on it over the years including 2x head gaskets but it has become a bit of a beater....rusty but not too bad. Don't want to send it to the wreckers just yet....with winter coming.
Was it a difficult swap? Did you pull it with or without the transmission.....and did you finally get it going.
Anyway, thanks for the reply. I know it was awhile ago.
