Hey, another HKer!
The W211 E240 has a 2597cc engine (output 177ps@5,700rpms) whereas the W210 2398cc (output 170ps@5,900 rpms). I understand the w210 engine was also changed during the model's reign but not sure exactly what.
The extra 7ps is probably not that noticeable and can easily be gained on the W210 with a few simple and relatively cheap mods. Mine certainly gives the E320s a run for their money.....
The licence fee on the W211 would therefore be higher than the W210 in HK since it is above the 2.5l bracket.

hey,
Yeah, the engine did change from inline-6 to V6 during late of 99-02 model of W210. Our W210 is a 01 model so its actually 2598cc, and will have to pay a bit more than the older model of W210 in Hong Kong

Mine's a pre-facelift 98 but also a twin sparks V6
- when did you say they went from in-line to V? Are you sure you're not talking about the C-class 240's?
Goe_h, done anything with your car? Why not post some pics on that very large thread?

01 and 10K km's - very difficult to believe (a benchmark for Hk is about 10K per year). If it is a Zung Fu car, do a check.
Did you know guys in HK actually change the entire speedo so that the trip meter shows less? My friend had a 94 Golf convertible which he sold to a dealer with over 100K kms on it, a week later, it had 34K and they were selling it for twice the price my friend sold to them!
Anyway, hope your's is genuinely new, good luck!

Yeah, we doubt that too. But its a Zung Fu car...we'll have it do a check later this week.
We have compared with a few other 15xxx miles cars and it seems our is much newer (on the leather...sits and stuffs) so we do believe its pretty new.

BTW, you didn't get it from Foggi Motors did u? They tend to have very low miles on their cars....always.....
Not much use checking up on the car after u buy it anyway.

hey,
just got a ride with family last night...
the wheel seems a bit too "LIGHT"
I also noticed that the engine temperature gets up to 70-80C in just 5 min. It stays at 70-80C through the whole ride.
Is this normal? What's your engine's temperature?

Not sure what the temp is exactly but it should be in the middle of the gauge most of the time even after heavy driving. Mine was higher before I tuned it but has stayed there +- a minor diff for the past 12 mths (N.B. most 2nd hand cars in HK are usually undermaintained).
As for the wheel, I'm not sure what you mean. Normally european cars should be stiffer than say your Lexus, especially at higher speeds - SRS.
Feel free to PM or email me if there's any particular minor queries of this nature.
What color is it?

yeah...the temp is around the middle of it yes....
the wheel is extremely light compare with lexus...
our old C280 is much HEAVIER than this E240 wheel...
BTW...I heard the infra-red keys (from this forum) can close the windows when "HOLD+PRESS" the LOCK key...but it doesn't seems to work....the windows didn't close...(the doors did lock as normal)

Close and open, including the sunroof - try pointing the IR at close range (no more than 2-3ft) to the receiver (on the front handles - I think) and hold the remote button.

Useful info. given here. By the way, I have a doubt as below:
Is the W210, 2397cc E240 M112.911 and the W210, 2597cc E240 M112.914 output the same power as 170bhp?
If this is true, the extra 200cc in the 2597cc does what?
Hope to hear from the expert here!
Cheers,

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
Both had
168 HP 170PS
the 2597 had 11 more ft lb of torque.
The 2597 also bumped up the compression .7 points to the standard 10.5cr
That is the difference the 200cc(12 cu in.) extra displacement makes.
This may also be the oldest thread ever revived from the dead

Thank you!
Thank you for clearing my doubts. You are really good at this.
I found this figure:
W210 E240, 2397cc: 125kw@5900rpm, 225N.m@3000rpm.
How do I convert 11 ft lb to N.m.
W210 E240, 2597cc: 170PS, ? N.m
Thank you in advance.

Multiply by
.737 to get lb ft.
Handier to use .75 as approx multiplier easier to remember when trying to convert nm to lb ft when doing spark plugs and other repairs.
On your specs....depends what market the car was sold into as power figures varied by market in some cases.
Where are you located?
