Customizing

Looking to completely customize my car (wheels, tints, grills, body kit etc.) any suggestion for the lights? Can't seem to find anything that looks nice. I wish Benz had angle eye headlights lol if only.

just an idea to what I did (not sure if that's what you're going for. if so, clear projector headlights, LED tail lights and glass clear fog lights are a good place to start. Ebay is where i bought them and they're pretty good quality.

wheels are probably the make or break factor, so make sure you know what you're getting into. Take a look on google at some of the sizes of wheels on the w210, and what you like. I ended up with 19's, but kind of regret it because now i can't lower it as much as I'd like to You can kill a cars look with those big chrome wheels

Body kits are nice, AMG is always a great way to go. They will cost an arm and leg no doubt, but that's up to you. Depending on what year you have, if its >2000 you can body match the gray panels at the bottom of the car to be the same color(looks great, take a look online I haven't done it yet) if you don't want to spend 1000+ on body kits for an older car.

plastidip with glossifier will be your best friend if you want to black out the grill or emblems.

Don't cheap out on window tints, because if you get low quality garbage they will turn purple and peel. Get the window seal liner so your tints don't get scratched, because IT WILL happen.

Don't forget, its a mercedes. Keep it classy, and have fun

i had recently posted the following on the 'other' MB forum. but i added
approx cost for each mod. it's a bit embarrassing....all this since 2003

i was satisfied with the car in factory configuration until i started reading the
various MB forums and started with a trinket here, a dongle there. it can end
up being an affliction

over the years i've accumulated the following for my 99 sedan , none of which
can be deemed cost effective or a wise financial investment:

E55 bixenon HID lighting - $700
E55 multi-contour seats - $1500
E55 rims from 211 - $800
E55 tails from 2002 - $150

tinted windows - $200
Audio10 head unit - $250
subwoofer in trunk - $200
LED city lights - $30
LED license lighting - $30
silver coated front turn signals (glows amber) $30
clear bumper lens (glows amber) - $50
outside mirror covers w/turn signal indicators - $250
Eibach lowering springs - $150

in the works...
rear seat warmers - est $300
rear view camera - $25
single DVD head unit - $400

if i had to do it over again, i'd just invest in clay bar, good wax, and seat conditioner and leave it at that. like i said, it's an illness

Thanks! I actually wanted a silver w210 because they look much better with the blacked out grille and emblems lol. You should definitely get the bottom panels painted silver, it will definitely make a difference. The tail lights weren't hard to do at all!

This video helped a lot, but one thing i realized is that it's very important to sand with 2000 grit paper between coats(black and clearcoat) and it will shine like it's from the factory after the rubbing compound. Don't black out the whole tail light; its a sure way to get a ticket... unless its legal in your state

it'll be months away. i'm just starting on the sound system project and trying
to fit that project in between work demands.

so far, i have a spare seat bottom cover off from a spare seat and examining
the construction to weigh the merits of installing a carbon heat pad there. doing
same for the seat back also but that one appears trickier as it seems more
integrated with the seat back and may defy dismantling...or at least, make it
more challenging.

heated seats: chick dig 'em
