I've used a mechanics stethoscope and think I have narrowed down the noise to the smog pump. However, it appears the pump is run electronically and the noise is constant regardless if the pump is plugged in or not, warm or cold. Does the pump always run or is my noise maybe something else? It almost sounds like a bearing noise but I've put the stethoscope on the pulley and tensioner bolts and it sounds like a normal bearing noise. Noise is further up and in the center (right behind the smog pump if it's not the smog). Oil cooler housing sounds normal too.

Any thoughts?
