cats on the car/cayenne pepper

i woke to find my car covered in cayenne pepper.....tracked on the car from the nice perimeter i created sprinkling it around my 320 to keep the cats off.....mixed with dew from the night before and cat hair it was a tar and feather type mess....... ............yeah i shoulda taken a picture...usually the car is dry but the cats with wet feet tracked pepper everywhere.....

does anyone with a working brain have a better idea for keeping cats off the car...
car is in a carport - no closed garage......cats belong to neighbors who have no desire to keep them away.....

i really am not a cat person.....but the fact that my little boy plays with the cats is enough to not drastically alter their dietary needs.....however im not sure what i thought cayenne pepper would do.....they seem to enjoy that and seasoning salt......
i feel like im cooking my car.....

Anyone have a non-lethal suggestion? I have the same problem. Just winging them with the .22 is not a valid suggestion either. I might miss them and hit the car. Besides blood can make a mess of the paint.

things with and without wheels
Use a car cover or get a dog, some people say mothballs or brewed ground coffee keep cats at bay

im afraid these are country cats. they licked up cayenne pepper like it was catnip. i may have to move. i washed the carport down to rinse away the pepper and removed everything from the carport so nothing would make them come over with their curious nature......i woke to limited car tracks on the car and then, when i backed out to take my daughter to school - a big pile of cat crap right in the middle of the carport....cat went under the car on a perfectly clean, slick concrete floor and left a cats version of a sicilian message.....or something.....i think cats and mafia are connected....

i was going to get a car cover but was told cats will get on that quicker than anything else and will also "mark their territory" right on the cover......not really wanting to add that to the mix.....

i googled - imagine that - and have found a high pitched motion activated alarm that is supposed to scare the cats away, but it warns that older cats with poor hearing may not be affected......probably applies to country cats as well but i'll try it....

I went up behind my cat while she was sleeping on my car with an air horn (LOUD) and blew her about 6 ft in the air.. And I thought "thats done" 2 days later...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ on the car again.Good Luck..
