You're right - 9" all round. What's important is the offset. What's the offset on your front wheels and rear wheels (i.e. the number after "ET"). Does your front wheels stick out more than the rears (may have to look quite hard)? Assuming the offset is the same all round, the fronts should stick out more. Steering would also be a bit stiffer than usual and pick up will be a little more sluggish with the 9". Standard AMG setup is 8" fronts and 9" rears.
Some of the members are riding on 8.5" with ET35 all round without any major problems but not sure about 9" cos it's likely to rub something if the offset's not right.

I'm not sure how much clearance we have on the inside but check that nothing is scraping on the inside, especially the fronts (e.g. brake calipers, the inside rim lip etc.).
Depending on driving style, outside tire wear may be caused by hard cornering but the fronts may also be caused by the wrong offset. Since your wheels upfront are set closer together than usual (albeit, only 4mm on each side), the two wheels will form a mild V-shape (front view), causing more pressure, hence wear on the outside.

Don't panic on the 9" wheels. As long as they don't rub and your drive is fine, don't worry. JamE55 has 19X9 HRE wheels on the front of his '02 E55 with no prblems...
