FlatlineEF9's W210 Rebuild thread
1) Reverse lights stopped working
2) wheel bearings (all 4) i think are going out
3) shifter mechanism or bushings going
4) parking lights stuck on
5) aux fans stopped working
6) cluster pixels stopped working
So to start to tackle the problems
1) i just unplugged the reverse lights for now. I think it is probably the reverse selector switch inside the shifter...i will look into it in a few weeks but i have more pressing issues
2) The bearing noise is pretty bad. 15mph is the worst and above 60mph is pretty bad too. Im sure being slammed for over 10 years isnt good for bearings. Ordered new front hubs and rear bearing kit so i will post pics of those being replaced next week.
4) Thought it was the PSE pump, replaced it...and the lights were still on. So i ended up replacing the light switch. Heres a pic of the dash apart.
Pretty simple job and im glad total to fix my problem was less than 200 bucks.
5) Got some depo aux fans from amazon. They got slightly damaged in shipping but with a little of bending of the bracket and housing they dropped right in and now my car isnt overheating in traffic.
6) Bought the cluster ribbon repair kit off ebay (the tape one). At first it didnt work, but then i took the cluster apart again and scraped the ribbon down with a flathead screwdriver and now all the pixels work
$25 fix.

Still waiting on the rears from the dealer, which are on back order. I figure if im going to take all the time to swap out the rear bearings, i might as well get genuine MB...i hope they will last longer than the aftermarket ones.
18x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear on mine. ET35 with 30mm spacers on front and 15mm spacers on rear. Will make my front offset +5 and rear is +20
tire size is 225 40 front and 245 40 rear.
So to answer your question, the rear should line up nice and the front should be a little sunk, assuming you run a stretched tire.

So roughly 10 years driving slammed and about 60k miles. Turns out the front bearings were ok, it was the rears that were making the noise. I changed the front ones out anyways, since i was already there and had the new units. Upon inspection of the rear bearings, the noise was being made by some rust in there...not sure how the rust got in there but the bearings were functioning just fine according to my mechanic.

So i ended up purchasing a new set of OEM xenon headlamps from Hella. I figure its a good investment and will give me years of clear headlamps.

Crystal Clear!!!

Nice and clear, and even. I have other parts I need to paint and install...coming soon...stay tuned. Thanks for looking.
