Adding HIDs

I know adding HID lights has been discussed many times before, but from what I understand, if you retrofit OEM kits, the self leveling feature and the high beams will not work. Of course that makes it illegal. Is there any way these features can be made to work? There must be some way to do it.

I Installed the OE Mercedes Xeon headlites in my W210 Wagon
The High Beams Do In fact work...A LOT Stronger than The US ones
I Chose NOT To Install the Auto level Feature Because the W210 Wagon has Self Level rear Suspension And It Would Not be worth the Trouble
Its a LOT of Work to Install the Auto level for the Headlites
Steve The Euro Pimp Would Be able to Help you on that subject
But To Answer the Question YES it can be Done (The Auto Level)

1) not installing the self-levelling does NOT make it illegal (if the high beams didn't work, it would be illegal... but they do work, so I'm not sure where you got that idea)

2) Mark mentioned Steve (MBenzNL) and he has actually retrofitted self-levelling on one of his cars. But it really is expensive and generally not worth it to most people

Thanks for the info. I thought I read on some posts long ago that the high beams do not work. I guess they do, and that's great. I really love the car, and I plan to keep it for a while. The upgrade would really be nice.

The issue with high beams not working is mainly for cars other than a W210. You lose Highs for cars using a 9007, 9004, 9003 or H4 bulbs which has high and low filiments in the same bulb.

Older Mercedes cars that use 9003 or 9004 bulbs are W124, W201 and some older W202. These type of retrofits are usually not OEM factory kits because no Xenon HID option was available from the factory.
