Help me replace my alternator, it won't come out
My alternator died on my E430, not too hard to remove the belt and the two bolts that attach it to the bracket. My problem is that there is no room to remove it, there is no clearance between the frame and the engine! I tried every way of rotating and moving the alternator, it is just too big to clear. Is there something I am doing wrong, can't get it out from below either?
I thought of removing the bracket but that looks like a big job, It looks like you have to lift up the engine for it to clear.
The only other thing would be to drain and remove the radiator and try and get it out from the front, there must be a better way since it does not look like there is enough room that way either..
I looked at my E 320 and there would be a lot more room since the engine is much shorter.
Please help!
