E 320 Trip computer

The MPG/miles to empty/trip computer function is totally absent on my recently acquired 2001 E320. When scrolling through the screen options such as Speed/odometer/messages/etc. the trip computer options are completely absent. Not even a blank screen. I have reset the computer to "factory settings" with the R button with no change.

Any one know of this issue and have a remedy?

Sounds like you have a faulty fuel level sensor------however I would do the following---go to system selection button----then to settings---then press RESET for 5sec----you should see a message that says---DO YOU WANT TO RESET TO WORKSHOP SETTINGS----yes

If that does not work then you can check for faults------Go to accept/terminate phone call--hold button until faults display--------what are the faults

PS------hopefully you have a manual for the TRIP

The fuel gauge seems to work fine. No diagnostic faults can be found. The car does not have a phone and the phone buttons do not activate anything. The system selection reset to factory settings makes not difference. No fuses are faulty. There is to Trip/MPG/miles to empty options do not appear when cycling through the information system settings.
What do you mean by, "a manual for the TRIP"?

Any other thoughts?

TRIP is what MB has designated as your instrument cluster. Therefore some where in your manual there is a reference to TRIP.

I do not have your VIN therefore am flying by the seat of my pants as to the options on your MY01 W210.

Your MY is the only one where the fuel level sensor sends data directly to the TRIP.You advised that MPG window is blank---that is what leads me to a potential problem with the sensor----TRIP is not getting data therefore can't make the calculations.

I have no other free suggestions. Good Luck
