Exclamation E320 wont start!!

So i was driving yesterday and all of the sudden my ESP/BAS lights came on and then out of no where all the lights on the dash lit up and my revs dropped to zero and the whole engine shut off ... when i tried turning it back on it just cranks and wont start and there is no malfunction on the dash. Got it towed to a garage and have been working on it all day. the car starts up and then after half an hour completely shuts off again. there are no leaks or anything and a full tank of gas. i was thinking it could be the fuel pump or coil but car starts up and then shuts off. i ordered a new crank shaft hoping thats the reason behind it. any ideas whats going on?

and theres no warnings or messages on the dash after it starts up

Have em check the fuel rail pressure before you purchase a CPS, which if faulty would produce a fault------ask what brand of diagnostics he is using for testing ???

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
Again for the hipster dufus

Plutoe 99% of the time a cps going bad throws no code, nada, zip, zilch, zero.
A failed CPS throws a code,a failed circuit in the CPS system throws a code.
A failing CPS throws no code. They do fine when cooled off, they get warm and expand, they stop suppling the signal to the ECU,they shut down the fuel and spark. They cool down, car starts, cycle repeats. Simple, even you after all these years should be able to comprehend the reason a failing CPS throws no codes. You've been told about a thousand times, you've been banned from another Mercedes forum for posing as a shop owner and passing out costly false information. It is no wonder you can't understand a CPS failing does not mean it has failed, thus no code and certainly no need to whip out your Xentry or send a member on a wild goose chase after fuel rail issues.
For a poser that claims he owns a repair shop, when all you really have is an old diesel benz that up until you bought it a few years ago you didn't know how to change a bulb, you don't catch on too fast do you?
Advice? Jack, you need your systems tested.
The OP needs to take the 15 minutes and the new CPS and install it.
Problem solved.
Where's your shop again?
