Metra Axxess for Steering Wheel Buttons

Has anyone tried the Metra Axxess for steering wheel button integration to an aftermarket stereo on a W210 or W208? Metra is unable to confirm if it will work.

I had professionals try it and it does not work. Only PAC SWI-JACK in conjunction with the PAC SWI-CAN2 works on our model car. https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...t-hu-bose.html does an excellent job of explaining the entire process. Things to watch for: Because steering wheel buttons can do several different functions, make sure you are in the Radio Control mode. AUDIO should appear on the dash display. Unfortunately, the after market unit will not support the display so you will be met with a blank screen after the exchange. From now on the blank screen will let you know when you are in the radio control mode. Your steering wheel volume control will always work but not all functions the Bose head unit would follow will be duplicated. The PAC SWI website has a chart of what steering wheel control functions the different major aftermarket brands will follow. Some brands do more functions then others.Good luck.

Thanks for the confirmation. That's not what I was hoping, but what I was expecting, and saves me the trouble of ordering one, screwing with it in vain, and returning it.

Metra told me it will work if wired directly to the steering wheel controls rather than CANBUS, but that's too much work. Looks like PAC it is.

Thanks!

I was told that also. There is supposed to be a separate connector on steering wheel side accessed from behind the dash. We could not find so went with PAC SWI combo. PAC is more expensive but does work. Follow the link in previous post it is very good.
