Need help E300D randomly stalls

My 1999 E300D randomly stalls and it willstart again on the third attempt. I have replaced both fuel filters and everyfuel line from the firewall forward. There are no air bubbles in the clearlines. I have changed the Overload Relay Fuse Box Unit (K40), the Fuel ShutoffActuator (SOV), and the Crank Position Sensor (CPS). I have connected amulti-meter to the Fuel Shut Off actuator connections to see if the voltagedrops off during one of the stalls. Sometimes the voltage drops to zero and theengine stops. Sometimes the engine almost stalls, then belches black smoke butcontinues to run - it will do this for five or more cycles but the voltagestays steady. During these cycles the car slows down and pressing the acceleratorhas no immediate effect but when it catches the car launches burning the fuelthat has built up. I am guessing the EngineControl Module (IFI) is defective but this is amajor expense that may not fix the problem. I really need help this is my dailydrive and I do not know what to do next!
