AC making loud whining noise.

My car has been gradually making this whining noise when i turn the ac on. Now it seems to be loud enough to be heard over my radio and the air blows pretty faint on max, the air it is blowing is still cold however. Does anyone know what this problem could be i'm guessing blower but im hoping not as I was quoted a price of 600 dollars to repair this.

Based on what you have written, I would say the blower motor is faulty. however to be sure turn the blower on and place you head under the glove box---do you hear the whining??

USD600.00 seems very high you may want to get some more quotes!!

The noise seems to come directly from the center vent area but ill check under the glovebox a little later. Is it worth it to have someone recharge the freon I heard this could be a problem.

The simple way and not to guess or think or ask the son's girlfriend or the school crossing guard----------is to do the actual value test and the fault test in the stickies---post the info and am sure you will get help, but first check for fan noise

I provided the definition for the actual values

The first two faults will effect the overall performance of the system

The third fault just means that you can't recirculate the hot coolant when the engine is off and the rec button pushed.

200 bucks for fixed----what is there definition of fix and what do they think they can fix-----I would really love to hear that one

They said they would fix the blower I did not tell them about the faults. I checked the temp reading and they seemed to be correct for outside temp and inside temp are these faults serious?

Simply put sir----WHAT DO THEY MEAN BY FIX??

All I can tell you is that they have been reported to be faulty by the AC control unit-------and NO they are not serious-----it just means that when in Auto mode the fan speed will not adjust properly and automatically to the inside and outside change in conditions. An example would be on a hot sunny day and hot inside the car----when you press auto the fan will zoom to the max position, but if it can't sense the outside or inside temp where will the fan setting start???? who knows!
