E320 4matic wagon
looking for MB cell phone

I recently purchased a 2000 E320 4matic wagon. It has the phone system installed but the phone itself did not come with the car. Anyone looking to sell MB motorola startac handset?

thanks,
Ken

Do you know the model number of the set? As far as I know, MB startac phones are different than standard issue startacs... meaning it won't work with your car's system. I have an 2000 SLK Limited Edition that had a Motorola phone that could not be substituted with any other. be careful!

LOOKING FOR MB CELL PHONE

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I understand one needs a Mercedes version of the startac although I am not sure if there are different versions of the MB compatable phones. I am looking for someone that may have sold their car but kept the startac and is willing to part with it.

there are seventeen different MBz startac phone part numbers for year 2000, each particular to a different cellular system. ask your dealer which one you need for your local carrier(s)., then try to find a used one if you don't want a new one. new ones are rather pricey: $431 dealer cost, $575 list price.

btw, some dealers may have "extra" phones from tradeins from outside their cellular area; you might do well calling a bunch of dealers around the country once you know exactly which phone you need. i can fax you the list of seventeen part numbers, if you need.

Cell phone for sale maybe

Ken,
Did you find a used phone yet. I have a Startac in my 2000 E320 and I may want to upgrade to a tri mode phone. Even if it doen't work from my steering wheel I may switch anyway because I want to get a new Verizon calling plan which requires that I have a tri mode as opposed to a dual mode phone. Let me know if you are still in the market for a used cell phone. I will call the dealer tomorrow to find out what my upgrade options are.
Best regards,
Nick
