'96 E320 - Any good?
Me and my dad are looking for a first car. He drives an '07 E350 and he thinks I should get an older one since he knows a mechanic who works on them for good prices. I found a '96 E320 on Craigslist, with 95K miles, and a new sound system. I thought I could come here to get some advice.
Here's the link to the car:

Thanks guys.

Out Of Control!!
If you live on the shore, the car would make a super fish farm or with it's sinking you could offer scuba diving tourist trips at say 20 bucks a head plus the drink and food concessions----------sink the car!!

MBWorld Fanatic!
no one can tell you if it is good or not over the keyboard. but i think it has
potential. i'd have a knowledgeable MB person go over it in person. bring
the car into a garage for a pre-purchase inspection. here is a list of TSBs
for that year/model. the odometer is very low for its year. so you'd be
looking for every single clue available to see if they show a history of care
and maintenance by the owner. receipts.
it almost looks too clean. but the center armrest shows a heavy person. what
about pedal wear? what about door armrest?....leather condition? headlight
oxidation. undercarriage. poke front shock mount mastic for signs of covered
rust. have the recalls (service campaigns) been attended to (receipts again)?
blah blah
p.s. they sure don't look like HID/xenon headlights to me
HID...
Halogen...

The 96-97 models have a straight 6 engine and the latter year models have the V6.
You're gonna get different opinions about which is better.
But I personally like the straight six engine better and that is the reason I kept mine instead of selling it even when I had a 2007 W211 with a V6 engine.
I personally have had no major issues that would discriminate against the 96-97 models.
