Yesterday I was running at 120 km/ hrs and tried to accelerate a bit more but I saw that my Mercedes W210 did not exceed 2800 rpm and 130 kmh. Checked the speed limitator was off. What may be the reason?

Blocked catalytic converter? Did it do anything when you stepped on it more? Like hesitation?
Hi guys . Thanks for the answers.
Below some more details:
w210 avantgarde diesel 220 cc launched in November 2000 just reached 170000 km. nothing fixed. I have just replaced the air filter 15 days ago.
@ 430_phd, Yes might be. I had to think about Sometime ago during a control someone told me that the catalytic was going to be blocked after sometime. Thank you.
@ Plutoe. Thank you too. I was on the drive and the acceleration from 0 to 130 was , was easy and fast but after reaching 120 km/h the accelerator was making any change till reaching the end. This is really really strange for me.
Anyway I will sent the car to the mechanic but I will appreciate very much your answers. Pls let me know if you want any additional info.

It may be the transmission, our cars tranx has an auto protect mode, this makes the car run slow so that there is no more damage caused if something is not ok.
Once it happened to me in the highway, I arrived a gas station and called my MB Mechanic. He told me "buy 1 quart ATF oil and pour it to the tranx" that fixed MY PROBLEM. It was at my cars 180km, know it is 225kms, and i havent had the problem again.

Could be the MAS faulty and bringing on limp-home mode. You really need a STAR diagnosis rather than guessing
