E430 rich cold start

Does a 1999 E430 have a separate cold start system such as an extra injector or is the cold start built into the ECU? I am getting dark smoke out of it for 2 seconds on cold startup.

Sounds like valve guide seals are leaking...no xtra injectors..if you have an issue with the mass air flow sensor it should trigger the check engine light.

If you had serious issues with the engine emmision system you would notice a CEL-----an oil burning issue would manifest itself in a bluish looking smoke and it would linger.

In any event and for safety reasons, I would check my oil level----then

Take the car out on the Interstate and run the car at 70 for 20 miles. That should clean up you exhaust system.

PS: if you have the 112 or 113 engine you have the secondary air injection system which will richen and heat up the cats when the engine is cold---only

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
Secondary air injection has nothing at all to do with the intake and air/fuel ratio.
It injects air into the exhaust to heat the cats faster upon cold start.
Where you come up that it will richen anything must come from the same place all the other **** poor off the wall info you spread.
Why waste time saying if he has a 112 or 113 engine? He says he has an E430 thus it is a 113, or don't you know that?
I forgot, Nope you don't know that.
