Question transmission fluid change

Can anybody in the NY/CT area recommend somebody to change the tranny fluid in my car? I've asked the stealer, but they don't want to do it (i don't understand why...it's not like i'm asking them to do it for free? )

Thanks!!

4 wheeled car.
Cutter Motors in Santa Barbara told me "No, it's lifetime tranny fluid, the pan is sealed and you can't change the fluid," when I asked them to change it. lol dumb fools.

I went to Kimball Motors in San Luis Obispo (Which I usually don't like to go to) and they did it no problem.

Paomien,

I hate F*#king dealer service dept. They are bunch of thieves, I love them for warranty items. Anyway it can be done, but you cannot just take it to any Tranny shop or mechanic.

There is no dipstick in the tube, dipstick is used as a tool so they sell it for $100. So, only special MB repair shop has them.

Just to look out when changing the fluid, you MUST use MB tranny fluid $10 a quart. it usually takes 7.2 L. (with conv drained).

It can be opened from the pan to drain it is not sealed.

Paomien,

My dealer (you know who they are), completely changed the tranny fluid on my tranny more than a year ago. But that was after I told them that I noticed a few drops of fluid on the floor of my garage. I asked them to do a quick "clinic" of the car to be sure everything was working well because I was driving the car quite a distance for a ski trip.

I paid for the "clinic" $60 and they did some checking and other services. Now for them to find out what was leaking, they had to remove the "Tranny pan" (not sure of the term, can't remember, getting old). And since they removed that already and it was dirty underneath, they kind off happily convinced themselves that I should have the tranny fluid and the pan changed for a fee of course.

Fortunately, I agreed and unfortunately the warranty company had to pay for all that.

Moral of the story is... if you can convince them that they will be paid for their services - they will do it.

paxfo...

p.s. also spoke to a service advisor (My old dealer not the new one) about mileage change on a new cluster and he said that MB will put in the real miles on a new cluster based on the real miles from the old cluster and this will all be properly documented in MB USA records to avoid TMU issues. The assumption however is that the cluster is new and bought from them.

Thanks for your replies, Paxfo and Merc1. I had "the little garage" on long island do a drain for me, but I noticed he only took out the plug on the pan, so only about 3 liters drained out. How do you drain the converter? remove the entire pan?

thanks!

There is a drain plug in the converter with a 5? MM key recess.
