Red battery charge sign in dash.

I know you guys are probably sick of hearing from me but if u would please give any input on this. I started out with a bad ignition switch code when i took the car to my mechanic and he hooked up the computer. The car would intermittently not start or sometimes crank, start then immediately shut off. At this point i replaced the cps myself and it seemed to eliminate the crank, start then shut off issue but I am still left with this occasional not cranking period issue. Sometimes ill just hold the key all the way to the start position and eventually it will crank and start. Other times when i do this I do this and I get a red battery charge sign in the dash sometimes it stays on for a while sometimes it goes away after i am able to start the car. Does anyone know what to make of this?

you have a bad battery or a battery that does not have the cranking amps to start the car---get a new battery
