My left side Stereo sound goes out!

This is one of those problems that when you take to the dealer it is working fine and they will have the car a day or two and state they can not duplicate the problem.
How Many amps does car have? Is there a separate amp for left and right? Thanks.
This sounds similar to the problem I was having with
my 2000 E320 when I was in Germany. I had the BOSE
and COMAND options. It usually would happen when
the stereo was set very loud and some other things
happened (e.g. phone rings, ignition off, etc). Sounded
to me like it was a SW issue since it seemed to reset
itself after turning off the car, taking the key out, locking
unlocking the car.
I had the dealer update the SW version in the COMAND
unit and that fixed it. They had to order a new EPROM(?)
from Mercedes for it (or so they said).

Remove the left trunk lining and check for signs of water incursion around the amplifier... the body shell is prone to leakage in that area and it can cause all kinds of problems with the amplifier. While you're in there, make sure the drain tube is properly routed; also make sure the drain holes in the well (where the CD changer sits) are not plugged.
