The same thing happened to my ML55. Is it a ML320 or other. Here is what the dealer told me. First of all I took it to the dealer every week for about a month. They had no idea what the problem was. Finally they came up with that it has to do with the sensors and steering. I never got a straight answer but they did finally fixed it. Send it to the dealer and you should be fine.

The same happened to my E220. My problem was a black mud in the front left wheel ABS sensor. A strong water spray in this area fixed that issue. I realize it works magnetically, but maybe some iron powder was mixed in the mud...

ABS ETS lights

Same thing happened on my '00 E320. It's just a faulty relay switch. Easy fix at dealership and covered under warranty.
