Worst Locking System in the World. 97 E320 HELP?

So ever since I got this car its caused me minimal trouble.. besides these damn locks. So at first it was a blown fuse under the back seat. Was pumped when I discovered my mystery was as simple as a blown fuse.

6 Months down the road I left the lights on killed the battery, got locked out, had to call AAA to pop open the door for me. Mercedes why couldnt you just invent a simple turn and unlock option on these door handles.. lol

From there on out it was all downhill... Batteries in the remote died (thankfully I wasnt locked out this time). Changed em, we were good again for about 2 months

NOW.. just changed batteries again hoping my issue was the same as before.. had a feeling it wasnt long enough for dead batteries again. Had to call triple A again to bust open door.

**Can not unlock/lock with remote button.
**I can manually lock the doors from the trunk, but they will not unlock, just the trunk will unlock, and will sound the alarm when I open it.
**Passenger door keyhole does not do anything. Never did since day 1. Think it used to pop open the trunk, but I dont remember it ever actually unlocking the door/doors. Was this all it was intended to do?
**Neither the trunk or rear view mirror sensor reacts to the button on the key.
**Key lights up red when i press the button, and brighter flash when i hold button.
**The dashboard lock/unlock button works fine. Locks and unlocks how its supposed to. Locking doors isnt something I will be doing though, seeing as I have no way of unlocking my car anymore.

Key is a switchblade style single button. 97 E-320. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Your passenger door key slot should open and lock, all door locks. If held in position it should also open and close all windows and the sun roof. The trunk lock should also open and lock all doors. The vacuum pump under the rear seat does the locking and unlocking. I would check the fuse again as the pump may be frozen up. My system has worked well except for a sensor on the drivers door, but the mirror sensor easily takes it's place.

Thanks for your response!

Passenger key hole has never done anything besides open the trunk, who knows. Trunk key hole would be used to unlock/lock whenever the electric button on key acted up. But now that doesnt even work, only for locking, no unlock.

If the pump failed, would the dashboard lock button fail as well? My dash button works perfectly fine with all 4 doors closed.

Also just realized the central lock button on dash is just constantly lit up red now.
