SL55AMG + SL600 + E320 + A180

BAS/ASR light giving us a hard time ……

We recently bought a E320 T from 1998 – it came with the BAS/ASR light on in the cluster. Had the code taken and it showed:

Fuel/Ignition
P0130 Forward lambdasond
(no wonder when you see the vacuum hoses and valve covers etc. – nothing I worry about)

Brakes (ASR)
C1104 – Breaks – left forward wheel sensor (did replaced that ……. but not sure if it really was faulty)

Brakes (BAS)
C1000
C1332 – BAS solenoid valve –
no codes
C1025 – CAN

As soon as you turn the ignition key the yellow light BAS/ASR comes and stays on. The car starts fine and drives like a dream – ABS and cruise control works fine.

So; started by throwing out the cheap-not-up-to-the-task battery with a new original MB with 65Amp. Brushed and cleaned ground cable in battery compartment together with three ground cable point in the engine compartment. (one point beside the computer in the passenger side, one point under the air-intake filter box and one point on the driver side, just in front of the fuse box.

Every connection cable from the ETC valve block to the ETS computer checked and found OK

K40 relay (inside the engine compartment) soldering visual checked and found OK.

All fuses checked and found OK – (done with disconnected battery) All outside bulbs change to original MB ……. most light outside works fine – all brake lights included – the only exception are both light for the license plates – there’s no power coming to them? (ground cable OK but nothing to be measured on the power cable – even cut the power cable on the inside since the power cable could have a breach in the flexible hose coming from the car to the back door – but cable was OK)
Also; not sure but there’s only one light coming on when putting the car in revers … not sure if there should be light in both of them?

 Change the notorious brake-switch. (had been change by the former owner 1½ year ago.

After every new “repair” I did the turn with the steering wheel four times but futile……

Any suggestion of where to proceed is received with gratitude.

'99 E430, '05 ML500, '15 GLK350

I would fix any vacuum leaks first. The BAS solenoid is in the booster, which as you know relies on vacuum.

Bed time story …………………… so – finally got my Multiplexer to end this laughable repair job ……… got it hock-up and did the diagnostic …. showed it was C10000-033 – N48 BAS Control unit ……. easy fix then

Took a print from EPC which says it shall be A025 545 48 32 – this been replaced by A027 545 72 32

Jumped in the car and went to the scrapyard …. pulled a A025 545 48 32 from a wreck ….. went back …… took the old BAS control unit out of our car and saw it was an A025 545 47 32 ????? WTF????
