Both rear breaks stuck on?

So I was experiencing more than the usual turbulence on the interstate today. Both rear breaks were stuck on, not locking up rear wheels but dragging big time. I stopped and could hardly touch the drivers side rear wheel it was so hot, and the passenger was quite hot as well. What could cause both calipers to hang up like that? Bad master cylinder? Thanks for any intel

Are you sure it's the calipers and not the parking brake shoes?

We have one car in the shop with this symptom, the problem is a Cloged abs/esp actuator. we found a used one, replace it and solve the problem. this faulty in the abs unit is caused by a non brake fluid flush. Take care you need to replace brake fluid every year.

But same here, you sure is not the parking brake stuck first?

No I'm not sure of anything, I was suspecting something like Fabio stated, but embrake could be it as well. The symptom can completely disappear so does that rule one of these out?

When it happened last time (a year ago) I couldn't budge one of the caliper pistons (left rear) until something decided to just let off, I think this points to a hydraulic problem-- most likely that actuator Fabio mentioned right?

Yes, i'm talking about the abs pump, we replace several unit clogued by a non brake fluid flush. I think like yours, is an hydraulic issue and not electronic issue, is pretty common in the w202 this problem too friend! let us know what you find

Well to let you guys know how it all shook out--it is as Fabio suggested, the abs pump/valve assembly, I paid $265 for that information!

So I guess I need a bargain unit to throw in there, it's an "ASR" unit, let me know if you've got any good sources.

I will try my luck with ebay units until then, cheers and thanks for the help Fabio!
