light question

Is the normal (rotating) switch for the fogs, next to the ignition key hole not working? That should be your switch for the fogs. Man, have you had your fogs on all this time?
HUH! Whitey, what are you talking about? No W210 Fog Light switch is next to ignition key.

Is thier a way to turn off the fog lights? That stay on when you shut off the engine and get out of the car and close the door.
Cars are a 98 E320 and 00 E430.
Thank you

Note:
-------
With the electronic key removed and the driver’s door
open, a warning sounds and the message “SWITCH OFF
LIGHTS!” in the multifunction indicator appears if the
vehicle’s exterior lamps (except standing lamps) are not
switched off.
Fog lamps will operate with the parking lamps and/or
the low beam headlamps on. Fog lamps should only be
used in conjunction with low beam headlamps. Consult
your State or Province Motor Vehicle Regulations
regarding allowable lamp operation.
Fog lamps are automatically switched off when the
exterior lamp switch is turned to position D.
Night security illumination
--------------------------------
When exiting the vehicle after driving with the exterior
lamps on, they switch on again for added illumination
for approximately 30 seconds after closing the last door.
The lamp-on time period can be changed at your
Mercedes-Benz Center.
Attached are pictures from the manual.
......maybe only needed in the US, errr ,where you guys haven't invented street lamps yet?????
Regardless of any switch or anything for that matter, when the ignition has been turned off and the driver drive opened thus closed, the parking lights and fog lights come on for 40 seconds? as a safety feature.
I know the '99 MY has this enabled with so that at least when you lock the car, they shut off.... Not so on the 96,96,98?
My lights are solely operated by the switches and don't turn themselves on no matter what you do........ lock, unlock whatever you're tyring to say........IMO, this feature would be a pain in the a$$ and a drain on the battery.
I'm pretty sure its a country specific feature, just like the Canadian feature. I've never seen any E's in my town with their lights on after the driver locks them up...let me check my manual to see if its anything like Eddie's........
. Sorry folks!Jimmy, you can reset it - just take her to a stealer as the manual says
, maybe you can set it to "0" secs............
? Am I missing something or just having a brain fart???
