wet console.

I have a 97 E320, console sustained a water spill. Window switch replaced....shifter replaced with a used one and the tcm was also replaced. I performed the transmission reprogram procedure with the key position process and holding the gas petal. Car will still not go out of first gear. What else do I need to do....or missed.

you did not miss anything----what you forgot is that you are in limp mode and to get out of limp mode you need to find an indy who has diagnostic software that can read the MB transmission module, that read will tell you why you are in limp model.

There is much on the web about the so called transmission reprogram, it's all HS. The procedure you followed resets the transmission shift patterns to the factory settings and that is all---then the transmission must relearn your shifting habits

Now I am very confused---what do you mean by no info on limp mode though---- what do you want-- a definition, what are the causes, how to diagnose, how to fix and or what does it cost to diagnose/or what does it cost to fix???

What I meant was I didn't have any info on what a "limp mode" was. I understand somewhat now. Something has caused the car to go into this saftey override mode. I'm just trying to get my car back without being at the total mercy of someone that is trying to clean my clock. I've been there before, that's why I'm in this forum, trying to educate myself on the culprits and origin of my problem. If you have any other helpful information, I'm all ears.....Thank you for your help thus far.
