Can I run 20' inch rims on my w210 E320?

I own a 96 E320 W120 Model, and I'm looking to buy 20' inch wheels that are 8.5 inch wide with a 40offset. I have no clue about wheels or fitment, but I've heard that if I run 225/35/20 profile tires it would work without rubbing.

Does anybody have any suggestions, advice, experience, or useful information I could use? I do not mind driving slow around bumps, curbs, etc but I just would like to know what's involved.

Best Regards!

I'm guessing you will need spacers to get them to fit. My 19x8.5" Carlssons are 37 offset and the tires barely clear the upper ball joint nut. I'm thinking 40 will most likely rub.

225/30 will be the correct size to match stock diameter. As above, you will need spacers of about 5 - 10 mm.

I am looking for a more beefier look and stance, so if I run 19's 8 - 8.5 will I avoid having to roll my fenders and any rub? Also as long as the offset's between 32-37 is this correct? As you can tell I have no idea about wheel fitment and such, but most people on the forums have mentioned 19's are the best route I've been told without any modification's needed.

The most I know about wheel's and fitment are long as the bolt pattern is correct with the vehicle, they should fit lol. I figured if the rim wasn't too wide being 8.5 or the offset too high (that's what I heard), as well as a low profile tire (225/30/20) they would fit but like I said, I am a new guy to this kind of thing, I don't mind a bit of modifications if they need wheel spacers, etc. but if the best route is 19's 8.5 for the beefier stance I'm aiming for without rub or modification, than please tell me...
