Anyone using taller tires (235/45/18)?
Is anyone running 235/45/18 tires successfully? Getting a good deal on them with 18x8.5 ET38 rims.
I am currently using 235/50/17 winter tires on the stock rims (17x7.5 ET37) on my 2000 E430 4matic without any issue other than the speedo error. It fills out the tire well more and looks better than the proper size (235/45/17). No rubbing even with a full load. Used this same wheel/tire combo on my old 1999 e320 4matic as well.

You are only 2mm taller than you were...you win.
But you are 26mm (say 1 inch) taller than standard.

Was worried about the profiles of the tires. My winter tires have a more round profile. Since the summer tires have a more square profile, was worried it might rub on bumps and turns.
But now I can confirm this tire size works without any issues. At least on ET38 wheels.
Also used 245/40/18 tires, and they seem to work fine. But could not do a good test with them. Only a few spins around a very bumpy parking lot.
245/45/18 definitely does not work. Rubs on even small bumps.
