Or I can go with Carsoft v12 with a 7.4 multiplexer for $300
and then there is this star software on a laptop with all the cables and stuff for $1000
I am your basic car guy and not a dealer or auto repair center...If I were I would get the star system but am woundering if this carsoft stuff will keep me from the dealer a.k.a. stealer...
I never want to have a problem diagnosing this car...
So can I get away with spending 2-300 or what?
I dont understand any of these yet

Out Of Control!!
You may be more verbose than I, however after reading the post I saw two very short questions requiring either a yes or no answer----in fact if you reread your post and reread the OP post---he gave you the answer to your question, twice---therefore I am confused as to why did you even ask your question when you new the answer!!

It was a question answered, the comment merely an acknowledgement of said discovery.
As I am not experienced at working on cars ( I'm a heating engineer by trade) I have some learning to do but find it very interesting. Choosing the right piece of equipment was important, as I noted you are an avid supporter of your diagnostic tool.
No need to be confused though, I'm just one of those nutty folks that thinks out loud
