There are very few one liners for problems such as yours,however entertaining they may be-----get the car scanned!!---I know that ain't free!!

My best oneliner: Probably the brake light switch.
It isn't expensive and if it works then you can drive to the shop to get the codes read...of course, by then, you wont need to drive to the shop.
