2002 E320 Slow Blower (question about regulator)
I'm trying to diagnose and fix this problem. I have a 2002 E320.
Symptoms: Low blower speed regardless of chosen blower speed. Air is cold. Sometimes it speeds up for a few seconds but then it goes back down.
Attemps to fix it: check fuses, check/clean cabin air filter, recharged R134a
Shop says: replace blower motor and quotes me $647
After researching on this, the blower motor regulator seems to be the problem. I want to try (it looks like I only need a philips screwdriver and a T-20) and fix this however I don't know what regulator to buy since there's apparently an early version and an updated version and I don't know how to discern the parts. I am pretty sure I need an updated regulator since I have a 2002 model. This is where I need help.
Regulator: how do I tell if the part I am buying is an updated version? I am probably going to buy through ebay or amazon.
Also apparently you can tell if your car needs the updated version through your car's VIN. Is there a website where I can input the VIN and find out myself or should I post it here?
Thanks!!! Sorry if it's a lot of information.

It helps if you read Russian but you can use Google Translate...
