Yup, doesn't it suck! I've complained over and over about this crap and still the same. I am finally getting my e-mail notifications when someone replies but it still takes for freakin ever to post replies or pics. for that matter. I get anxiety build up just waiting for things to load...

Seems you removed the resonator but i'm not 100% sure since I dont know what the bottom of a E240 looks like. If you look under your car, do you see a bigger peice that looks just like that one? If so that is your muffler and you removed the resonator.

Do you hear much more sound then before? If you do then it was the resonator. The resonator is what reduces sound (just incase you did not know)

Mmmmm, the mechanic calls it a "muffler" (it was goldish/silverish in color - so was the rest of the system). I may have show the wrong pic but this ting was the next in line after the pipe+muffler mod (does this give you a better idea?).

Whatever it is, its increase response, power and yes, it has increased the volume - definitely feel more alive! Friends (who never knew what I drove) thought I'm have at least an E320 judging from the response and sound, LOL! (then maybe I should do some "fake badging", hee, hee)

I'll check the bottom of my car the next time I get my shocks done and I keep you guys posted - with after pics.

Just realised a few guys on benzsport have been discussing this. I think a couple referred to the part to remove as a resonator but I've been told mine was a "mid-muffler" can anyone confirm or explain which is which??????

Normally the exhaust goes like this:

Exhaust Tips, Resonator, Muffler.

So if this was the next peice after the tips, I would say it was the Resonator.

To me it looks like the Resonator the mufflers are bigger then what was posted in the image above.

Hope this helps ya

Thanks dude! That's it, I'm gonna tell this "expert" he doesn't know *****......and I'm gonna have to seriously consider whether he really knows when he tells me my new shocks will lower my car more, which is beyond common understanding.

Been waiting ages for the Eibach shocks and still no sign of any arriving soon....I ended up trying some Bilstein Sprint shocks. The guy claimed it could lower my car but guess what....it raised it (1/4")! It seems logical though cuz as it turned out, my original ones were so worn, my car was actually sitting on the springs. Good thing is, the rear has been raised proportionately higher so the car looks much better now and the ride/handling have improved.

So, I had the opportunity to take some pics of what they did to my exhaust after the resonator/midmuffler was removed (can anyone please confirm whether it the resonator or midmuffler????):

Nuh. It was originally obsedian black and got bleached

Actually, I'm quite impressed by MB's paintwork, the Glacier White has remained snow white and shiney after all these years without too much maintenance.
