1996 E320

What parts are these?

Can you someone tell what the two black vacuum switches are for in the top right of the picture, this is a '96 E320. One of the pipes coming out of top is broken.

That's good..,

These are a "change-over valves", for Exhaust gas exchanger...

A quick question... I've already ordered the part, but will I do any damage if I drive the car before I replace the part?
