rear trunk lid switch replacement
The trunk lid switch on the center console stopped opening the trunk two days ago. It feels spongie, comes up a tad further on a pull up now than it use to so I suspect the switch is bad. Truck opens with the key FOB and the trunk button on the lid itself. So trunk is not stuck. Also, if I open the trunk with the FOB, the little red light comes on in the console switch, so my guess is that the electrics are good but the switch finally broke after 180k.
Is there a write up anywhere that explains how to remove the center console wooden plate that all the switches sit in? Do I have to take out the complete console around it?
Thanks in advance,
Jesse
I took it apart. Pictures here. Just click on the Mercedes folder.

Here's the synopsis:
I'm pretty sure this is Airedale terrier related as my 60 pound furball popped into my front seat by mistake a few days ago. Her paw pressure broke off the two small little round pins at the back of the switch which allows it to rock back and forth to hit the small button switch soldered on the board.
I may try and plastic-solder some new tabs on enough to drill a couple of small hole to put a pin through. That or it's $125 for a used one.
