xenon bulb help

I bought two d2r bulbs for my 97 e420 as the right side bulb went out. The manual says have a tech do the install due to the high voltage involved. Is this cya by mb or can a non-tech do the job? Does disconnecting the battery help? Also, is it me, or do you have to remove the air box to change the bulbs on the pass side?

Any help/direction is appreciated

That is said to make MONEY. Dont listen to that crap...I had my D2R go out as well and I changed them myself. Dont disconnect the battery or anything. Just remove your key from the car and make sure the lights are off. MAKE SURE you do not touch the bulbs. If you do CLEAN them GOOD. They get very hot and they 'could' blow with out oil on the bulb.

When putting the bulbs in you will need to remove the airbox for the pass side and you will need to just move the front water thing for the driver side. That just lifts up and you can sit it aside. The airbox comes apart very easy as you may notice.

Do NOT have a tech do this job....Do this job yourself.

I agree with Benz, I have changed both of my xenon bulbs before and it's a cinch. Like Benz warned, DO NOT TOUCH THE BULB! I would use a small towel or cloth for handling the bulb and keep your figures on the base, away from the glass at all times.
