1999 E320 engine rebuild???
I've just been told that my 99 E320 needs to have its engine taken apart and put back together again. It has 33000 miles and since its regular service last June has been burning abnormal quantities of oil- at least that's what I'm told. It had an oil change at 28K miles and again at 32K.
At first, they told me it was usual to burn oil because they switched to a synthetic oil. They just wanted to keep an eye on it. So after a couple of more checks at 28K, 32K and 33K they now say they need to take apart the engine. I'm told it isb urning about a qt./1000 miles.
Has anyone had any experience with this? Can someone explain better why a relatively new car with reasonable mileage needs what seems like major work?

That is an unusual and unheard of problem. Thank God it is covered under factory warranty. Good Luck with the rebuild.
P.S. Have them bore and strock, polish the heads and do a 3.6 liter Renntech or Brabus conversion while they are in there!

Sounds like they were trying to take you for a little ride because they're lazy when they told you burning oil was normal for synthetic.
