2001 e320 cooling fan not working?

on my 01 e320 my cooling fan wont turn on. temps stay at about 95-100 C* and wont go down. for an engine that old it scares me

diagnostics ive done.
checked fuses which all were good.
hooked up a multimeter to check voltage on the clip that is mounted on the shroud. only got .056 volts < noted that engine hadnt had time to get up to 95 C* but was at about 80-85 and i had AUTO On the A/C controls- still nothing??

not sure what other diagnostics i could do? what im doing wrong?

also in other forums i keep hearing the term "relay switch" where is the one on this car and what is its purpose?

When the engine is hot and the AC is on turned on, you should be able to check for voltage. If not, the fan has gone bad. Another way to check it, is by jumping the cooling fan directly from the battery. If the fan runs, then the motor is good, but the problem might be in the fuse, wires, or in the control circuit. If all those parts are working properly, then your fan motor needs to be replaced.

Here is a link to our site if you need the cooling fan:

ok i was able to do the test on the motor for the fan, the motor (does) work, kind of a relief because its a hefty amount for a fan!
and fuzes have been checked and they are good.

now it must be in the wires? or maybe even the ECU or whatever sends the signal to the fan???
not sure where the relay switch is?
and cant find a wiring schematic to save my life.
