Refurbing 2002 W210 interior

Hi All

I own a midnight blue 2002 E270 (elegance), with a good 333 000+ km on the clock, and in all that time, the interior has taken somewhat of a knock as you can imagine, and have decide to do a significant refurb, including:
  • Replace the headliner
  • Vinyl wrap all doors
  • Retrofit CLK steering wheel with burl wood trim
  • Upgrade audio
  • Repair all LCD displays

As well as whatever else along the way to get it showroom fresh again.

This was my first car and though I will be getting a newer model soon, am planning to keep it, so just want to have fun with the project.

I am however caught in two minds as to whether to (1) refurb interior like for like in the same grey interior, or (2) to put together a two tone black and tan finish like the new AMG/designo options.

I know option 2 is a lot more work, having to source or lacquer plastics and trims but I am up for it at the same time...

Is there anything i am perhaps overlooking before I jump in at the deep end?

Do whatever floats your boat my friend. If you have the time go for the newer one, it's more esthetically appealing and plus you get more functionality from some of the dash changes etc

Whatever you think you're up for, I'm sure the changes will beat the current state it's in

There is a good thread on replacing the headliner in the DIY stickies on benzworld/w210.

If you can afford the cost I say go with the two tone, hands down!
Please keep us informed if you do choose to venture through, I myself would greatly appreciate it as I plan to do a complete leather refurb in mine. My hold up is cost, it's insane what shops want now a days to replace leather!

Might as well stitch the leather yourself, I agree
But then again, if you can afford and cost is not an issue, you can do almost anything
