my 98 320 wagon is still cooking along great. Had some rear end work done (bushings, arms, springs, wheel bearings). Front end is starting to squeak a bit. A/C slowly leaks from no idea where. leak dye hasn't shown a leak, yet every month is drains down enough that it's just a hiss in the dash and no cold. Love the car!

VW Jetta TDI, 1999 e300 turbodiesel
Daily driver is '99 e300 TD 185k miles. Only change was wheels to monoblocs. Bought at 60k. ~100k miles on B100 biodiesel. Once its on the bio, it likes to stay on the bio. Causes the seals to swell, going back to petrol diesel makes them shrink and you get air in the lines and fuel shutoff valve leaks out. Installed viton O rings (23? of them), but have not tested a switch to petrol. Besides front end work, minor AC issues, and the idiotic REAR WINDOWS. I've not had any major issues. Love this car.

The way to go...

The second (E430 4Matic) replaced the E430 which we bought used for $14,000. Today, rust has taken its toll and the car has had its share of maintenance issues along the way. However, depreciation has been a bit over $10,000 so it has been a much better investment, plus the car is great in the winter.
All in all the used E430 was a much better choice. I don't regret buying either car, but I'll never buy a new Mercedes again, they are simply not worth the premium price.
CPO is the way to go. Get one coming off a short 2-3 yr) lease with 35K - 40K miles. Get a very expensive car at 50% or greater the original sticker price. You can’t go wrong. At least I haven’t ....so far.

Do you have a working Key/FOB? I recently had a duplicate made by a local locksmith that works perfectly (Atlanta area). Cost $180.

Took her for a wheel alignment. The tech said it need right control arm bushings I'm in no rush since I rarely drive it. That said I have no thought of selling. Damn this car drives nice. The perfect balance between sport and luxury. My B5 RS4 still isn't, how the English say,, quite pucker. After about 8 years of almost daily use she needs some freshening up. Dash and drivers seat cracks and scratches on the paint.
