Starting/Key Problems

Everytime I start the car, the first time I get maybe one turn of the engine and then it goes dead. I need to switch it off and then try again. Sometimes it then starts right up, sometimes I get one turn of the engine and it goes dead again. I can repeat this two or three times before it "catches." When it does, it starts right up so I don't think it's the car's battery. I've changed the key battery and cleaned it. Both keys do it, so I don't think it's the key.

Anyone else have a problem like this?

Thanks.

I have had something similar i think. On occasion mine doesnt do anything. Everthing works except starting mode. I was told that they think it has something to do with the security system and it not letting the car start. They seem to think its the keys but they said it could be in the door. They dont know and couldnt give me a price and i still havent had it done yet. It only seems to happen when the temp is in the 20's though. If yours is turning over some though it probably isnt the same.

I have an appointment at the "stealership" next week to have it looked at. I'll let you know what the problem was.

It turns out that there is a Mercedes bulletin on this problem. The flywheel on the starter sticks sometimes. They lubed it and said that should solve the problem. They charged $98 which for Stealership, if you get away for under $100, that's great. However, I'm still a little POed because they said it wasn't covered under Starmark, because all that was necessary was lub.

Finadv,I'm having the same starting problem however the Boston area dealer I've been going to says it's normal. I too noticed it's worse on colder days, with almost a 5 second delay. Could you please send me a message as to which dealer you go to? I may need to find a new one!

Thanks.
