Coming up on 50Kmi...what needs to be replaced?

I should hit 50k in a few months and was wondering what items need to be replaced or at least looked at before the warranty expires. I should also think about an extended warranty...any suggestions? I'm in CA so I think that limits the choices as when I last checked no one offered extended warranties in CA.

Oh yeah, I have a 2001 E Wagon

Thanks

There is a known problem with something in the seat frame or seat mounting that wears out and results in the seats clicking when you move away from a stop having slowed down hard. There is no repair and the replacement parts are expensive. You'll find references to this if you search.

Secondly the power window mechanism, not the motor but the mechanism connected to the glass is pretty weak. In my case the rear windows were never used and when I did try them after over 12 months of inactivity one of them broke. Again they're a known weak link.

Finally, while I don't think it is a general weakness but has failed on my car and is expensive to fix I'd have someone run a sniffer on the AC system. I don't think the test is very expensive and the repairs (evaporator in my case) is steep (over $4k).

Good luck,

Peter

funny you should mention about the window mechanism. Had my car tinted 2 weeks ago, and my rear window (driver side) broke because of wear and tear. cost's less then US70 to fix.

My air con did fry when it hit 50,000 km. Had to change the whole air con unit at US2500 a pop..

i guess just check your bushes and suspensions, plus headlight mounts melts pretty easily.
