Need HELP - Central Locking System
Hi All
I have a 1998 E320 W210 Sedan and last week the Central Locking System stopped working. It will not work from the FOB, the interior locking switch or when I use the door/trunk key. Also the trunk switch on the dash does not open the trunk
I checked all the fuses and the PSE does run for 3 seconds then shuts down. I checked all the lines going to the actuators and there are no leaks. I tried replacing the PSE pump with no results.
When I use the key FOB the lights do blink once for open and 3 times for close. When I try to lock it with the FOB the little LED on the interior door lock switch also blinks.
All the door switches are fine since all the courtesy lights work when i open them.
I'm really at my witts end. If i hear my wife one more time complaining the doors don't lock I may kill myself. Does anyone have any ideas?

Also there are a lot of fuses that power that thing for some reason. Some are under the seat and some are under the hood. Check them carefully

The area under the rear seat is bone dry. I checked all the fuses (I believe there are 5 or 6 that effect the central locking system) and they are good also. The pins on the sockets on the PSE are clean and not corroded. Any other ideas?

Out Of Control!!
You have a faulty PSE pump---Don't be fooled into thinking a used one will do the job--they are wrong--- get the part number for yours and accept no other used substitutions!!

The used PSE pump I installed was the exact same part number as the one I removed. It behaved exactly the same as my original one where it runs for about 3 seconds and then stops. I have a 2000 E320 with a working locking system. Do you think I should remove the pump from that car and try it in the 1998 E320? I read in a few posts that these pumps have to be coded. Do you know if this is true. Thanks

My suggestion is you you stop wasting your time and money and have the car diagnosed like you should have in the first place.
Yes the PSE is typically variant coded to the car!!

My pump failed and I bought a used one on eBay with the same part number and it worked perfectly. I was told by multiple members that it's plug and play. Since you replaced it and it did the exact same thing I believe you pretty much ruled out the pump. I think you need a Mercedes tech with access to the Mercedes diagnostic equipment
