Cool MP3 Player

Has anyone tried to plug a portable MP3 player into the Aux Input plug in the clove box? How did it sound and what kind of player did you use?

What aux?

I didn't even know there was an aux input?! I have to check that out, maybe the XM satellite radio feed could go in there? Is the aux documented in the owners guide someplace?

It is not documented, but I heard about it some time ago, and I found it there, although I have not tried to use it.

Aux Input

Is the Aux input only for vehicles with command installed? I searched for it on my E320 and could not find it.

I don't know about that. I do have Command. The input is on the left side of the clove box near the top. It is a small mini stereo plug.

Aux Input

I'll double check my glovebox now that I know what side it's on.

Is this feature only available on the 00-02 cars? or do they apply to all the E's since 96?

If so, does it mean i can plug a MD player in there to listen while driving?

Can't tell you what years this option is available for but yes, you can plug in your MD or any MP3 player. That's my understanding.

No Aux input

Well I checked my 2000 E320 and there is no input to be found in the glovebox. It must be an option with the Command feature.

What's the best mp3 player?

Rio Riot 20gb or Creative Portable Jukebox 20gb?

Any ideas?

Which Player

I was thinking about the Apple 10 GB iPod. You can get XPlay software at http://www.mediafour.com/products/xpod/ to use with a Windows system. Very cool!!

iPod and audio input

I've got the iPod, too, and it's great. I too would love to use it in the car, but the cassette adapter doesn't work in the 320, as you have to have the cassette door closed for it to work.
I was about to order one of those little FM transmitter things, buy obviously a direct audio in would be better. I don't have COMAND, is there anyone without COMAND who has found the aux in jack?

For those of you undecided on which MP3, you've got to try the iPod, it makes all the other look pre-historic. In both size and ease of use.

Wink Ipod & Xplay

I have PCs and not a MAC, I see that Xplay (Xpod) is a new software, are there anyone using it? Is it just as good as the Mac software?

The Aux jack is only for cars with Comand as we have that feature in the Comand, thus if you don't have the AUX feature in your stereo, or you cannot see a stereo jack on the left or right side on the wall of thr glove box, then you don't have it.

Found It

I found the documentation for the Aux Audio Source on page 196 of the Comand Operator's Manual.

There's no such thing as PC software as good as Mac software. =D The XPod software works well, but looks like trash compared to iTunes.

I have a 10GB iPod too, and I'm trying to figure out how to wire into my C36. THinking of going through the CD Changer cable...

I will wait to Ipod to bring a proper Windows program

Instead I bought the Nomad Jukebox 3, it's pretty good (only got it 3 hours ago), but it is bigger than I thought. Pretty easy to use though. Let us know when they do a Windows version
