$3,000 oil leak?

The harmonic balance piece on my E320 came apart and ground metal on meatal. There is now a gap in my upper oil pan and timing front cover. The parts are only $380, but the repair center is estimating 30 hours of labor to replace the two parts, bring total close to $3,000. Has anyone ever had these parts replaced, and if so did it cost that much in labor?

Ouch puta!

It's a known problem as Mark said. I had them replaced on all 3 of my Mercedes as preventive maintenance.

Same thing happed on my ML. Now it has a slow leak. $3000 will buy a lot of oil. They may cover parts as part of a "goodwill" gesture. That's the easy part.

Have fun trying to get them to GoodWill that. I had a SL with 14,000 miles on it and they wouldn't help that much.
If it didn't get it that bad, then some times they don't leak, if you got it early.
