Computer problem
My friend has a 2000 E240. Recently he was entering a highway, accelerating past 4,000rpms, and the engine suddenly shut down 2 cylinders. The car following nearly rear-ended him.
The dealership said he needs to replace the "main computer." They also said this was a known problem by Mercedes........but, his warranty just expired. They're going to charge him $4,800. Is there anyplace he can purchase this part for less???? Stu

If MBNZ knows about this problem and your friends warranty _just_ now expired..'d certainly raise hell and get the dealership to put you in contact with the district service/customer realations manager re: this!!!! I'd also ask to see (or check the net) for any recall data re: that model Benz and/or known TSB's (technical service bulletins) pertaining to that problem! Otto
