Hello, i have a mercedes E270 cdi avantgarde of 2001, and yesterday i started the car, it started normaly and when i started to roll with it, 30 metres after the ABS/ESP/BAS lights went on and never more disconected, they just disconect them selves if i stop engine, remove key and restart again, but, as i said, 30 mettres after i roll with the car the lights turn on again.
My brake lights allways work with or without this warning lights on, ive 'd searched on youtube and all i saw was that it is the stop brake like switch, but if it was it the lights never turned on, right? please, gimme sum help. Thank you.
I would order BLS. I had the same issue and even though I thought it didn;t make sense, that $30 switch fixed it. Search "abs/bas/esp" or some form of that in this forum and you'll get plenty of information.
Brake switch is usually easy to diagnose.
Start the engine without touching the brakes, let it idle for few seconds and then press the brakes.
If at this moment the lights come on, it is the switch.
Those lights also sometime come with low car voltage and 30 meters would could be the time the system needs to confirm low voltage.
So if the switch test comes negative, display car voltage and observe it.
Kajtek1, U might be right............. i did that several times and its only when it runs a few meters. The day b4 my car didn't started due the battery went dead.... I brought my wife's car to give it a jump and he did start right after every day after. What's your advice then? check battery voltage and buy one if it's low? Thank you
If your car still starts, but later on it comes with low voltage, the first suspect would be Voltage Regulator.
Once again, display car voltage before starting up the engine in the morning and observe it for some time. Hope you have climatronic - if not hooking up voltmeter to cigarette lighter will do.
Hello guys again, im here and ive just arrived from the store and bought a battery reader. right there in the place i checked the battery and it showed that was fine, midle charge and it's ok. Then and with the engine running at 2000 rpm as the manual asked i tested the voltage regulator..... In the end and after i made these 2 tests i went home and no errors showed at least till i got home, i shall see tomorrow morning with the cold engine and negative temperature. Thank you for all ur advices, and tomorrow ill be here once more to let yall know how it behave. Here i let you the device i bought (21 dollars/ 20 euros/ 16 pounds) ONCE AGAIN, THANK YOU ALL
Hi guys ...Just to let you all know that after doing that yesterday my Mercedes haven't gave any more errors, so i guess that's it, fortunately it was solved with just this battery voltage reader. Thank you guys once again
I don't think anything got fixed with voltage reader.
Most likely you have intermediate problem like alternator brushes on their last leg, or acting wheel sensor, so very likely the problem will come back harder.
Where do you live? For $21 I can buy 10 such readers in USA
